How We Met

Katie loves hosting euchre nights for her friends, and one evening, a friend brought along some coworkers — including Jake. At first, Katie just thought they were new friends; it took a little while for her to warm up. By the end of the night, though, she found herself crushing on the charming new guy… and texting her friend to admit it.

Jake, on the other hand, had been making moves all night — some obvious, some that completely flew over Katie’s head. Despite the missed signals, sparks were undeniable, and by the time the night ended, both of them knew something special was brewing.

First Impressions

Katie immediately noticed how charismatic and confident Jake was. She loved that he was genuinely interested in getting to know her. Jake, on the other hand, was smitten from the start — he whispered to his friend, “Wow, she’s beautiful,” and was drawn to Katie's fun, outgoing energy. Honestly, everyone wanted a piece of her attention that night, but Jake knew he had found someone special.

When We Knew It Was Something Real

About eight months into their relationship, Jake’s mother passed away. It was still very early in their relationship, but Katie felt a deep pull to support him through this incredibly hard time. They joke about having a “trauma bond,” but going through such raw, challenging moments together made them realize: if they can survive heartbreak side by side, they can survive anything.

Our Favorite Memories

Life together has been full of love, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos, thanks to their little family: Paul, their Dalmatian, and lulu, their mischievous kitty. Katie has loved learning about Jewish traditions, and Jake gets so excited for Christmas — he even surprised her with a Christmas tree!

Saying “I Love You”

Jake may have said “I love you” a few times after a drink or two, but finally said it sober — making it officially memorable. Their love has always been equal parts genuine, funny, and full of warmth.
